The Family Joining Visa in Sultanate of Oman is granted to the spouse of an expatriate employee and his / her children below 21 years of age. While the Family visit Visa is offered to other blood relatives as well who are visiting the expat employee. This step by step guide will mention all the steps for getting an Oman Family Visa in simple way in-sha-Allah.

We don’t arrange Oman Family Joining Visa and Family Visit Visa. This guide is to help those who are applying for this visa.

Step 1: Apply Oman Visa through your Sponsor

Both the family joining and family visit visas are applied via the sponsor.

If it’s a family visit visa, 2 passport size photographs of the visa applicant and his or her passport copy is required. In addition to this, the copies of Oman Visa stamp on your and your spouse’s passport and the resident cards are required if you are the relative of the person (for whom the visa is to be applied).

Also with that you need to get an Arabic letter typed by from selected typing offices called Sanad Office. It costs around OMR 1.5 to OMR 2.

For family joining visa, which is multiple entry visa, there are some additional requirements, which are mentioned below.

Step 2: Get Medical Test for Family Visa in Oman

If it’s a family joining residence visa like visa for parents or spouse, some more documents are required like medical certificate of applicant and marriage certificate (for spouse) certified by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Oman Embassy in your home country.

The medical tests will carried out in your home country. Go to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs office in your home country and get it stamped. After that, take the same stamped copy to the Oman Embassy in your home country and get it stamped. The process for getting these stamps in each county is different, so follow the guidelines of your home country.

For Marriage certificate, you need to get it attested the same way as Medical Certificate.

Step 2: Book the Ticket once you Get the Visa

Ticket booking will let you know which will be first point of arrival in Oman. Like if you are flying to Salalah, you can enter directly to Salalah or via Muscat. So the ticket will show that your first entry point in Oman is Salalah or Muscat.

You can book flights via Salam Air, Oman Air, Qatar Airways, Fly Dubai and Air Arabia. These are the airlines that connects most of the countries with Oman.

Step 3: Deposit Original Visa in Airport

Since the original visa is issued in Oman and that is not dispatched to the home county of the person who is flying to Oman, the visa needs to be deposited in the airport. This will make sure that once the passenger arrives, he or she will get it directly in the airport.

The original visa can be deposited in Salalah Airport or Muscat Airport. Below is the procedure to deposit it in Salalah Airport. However, the procedure is similar for the deposit in Muscat Airport as well.

The visa can be deposited at the visa deposit counter, which is near Restaurant on the arrival area of Salalah International Airport. The duty timing is 9 am to 5 pm on weekdays (Sunday to Thursday) and from 8 am to 4 pm on Saturday. Friday is off day. Daily break is from 1 pm to 2 pm.

If Muscat is first entry point, tell the guy at the counter to send the visa to Muscat. It will cost OMR 10 per visa to send it to Muscat.

The visa deposit rate is OMR 4 per visa if you are depositing for Salalah Airport arrival (i.e. the point of Arrival is Salalah).

Step 4: Get Verification – Okay to Board for Oman from Airline:

If the airline is Oman Air, then the verification can be done when the visa is deposited at the visa deposit counter.

If it’s another airline, then you have to get it verified through the airline office. Documents that are required by the airlines are visa deposit slip, visa copy and ticket details. Airline verification is important as the original visa is not with the passenger and will be received once landed in Oman.

Each airline has a slight different process to get this okay to board for Oman. It’s better to check with the airline for the updated information. Some airlines can do this via email.

Step 5: Send All Documents to the Passenger:

Email or WhatsApp the passenger the copy of visa and visa deposit slip for clearing immigration process at the originating point. He or she can print out these papers and carry with them when flying. Ask them to make more printouts as some countries keep one copy at the time of departure.

Step 6: What to Do After Arriving at Oman Airport?

On arrival in Oman, collect the original visa from the Visa Collection Area. After that proceed to the immigration counter. The visa will be stamped on the passport.

Marhaba, you have arrived to Oman. Plan your visit in Salalah and have memorable time here.
