Mirbat Oman

Mirbat Oman (مرباط ، عمان) a fishing town some 75 kilometers East of Salalah, is one of the ten wilayats of Dhofar Governorate. It is a charming coastal town situated between the extraordinary escarpment if Jebel Samhan and the Arabian Sea.

There are many lovely beaches in Mirbat and on the way to Mirbat from Salalah. Some of them will definitely persuade you to stop your vehicle on the way to Mirbat.

Two Miniature Statues of Prancing Brown Horses

The entrance of Mirbat is marked with two miniature statues of prancing brown horses; one on each side of the road. These horses are whimsical memorial to the history of Mirbat as an important breeding center for Arabian steeds.

White Mausoleum of Bin Ali

Just at the entrance of Mirbat, before the horses statues, a whitewashed tomb of Mohammed Bin Ali is located. He was a respected religious leader who died in 556H (1161 AD). There is a big graveyard around the tomb.

Coastline with Traditional Dhows

Traditional boats (called Dhow) are very commonly see in Mirbat’s pristine coastline as it’s a fishing town.

Mirbat Harbor is a great place to see these boats closely and experience this old trading route.

Pristine White Sand Beaches with stunning views

The pristine white sand beaches await you at Mirbat. The view is simply one of the best in the region.

Birds and Animal Watching

The town is a great place for nature lover. You can see animals passing by frequently.

Playing Area for Children in Mirbat

A nice playing area for the children is also present at Mirbat Beach. The colorful rides will definitely attract children’s attention.

Sunset is also awesome and one can see the sun setting in the Arabian Sea. This is a unique experience as in Salalah the sunsets not in the middle of the sea.

Mirbat Fort

Unfortunately we couldn’t see the interior of the Historic Mirbat Fort, as it’s closed on the weekend. So if you want to see, plan accordingly.

Mirbat Public Garden

This lush green garden is a gem in Mirbat. The colorful flowers and beautiful trees make the place a must visit in Mirbat.

Where to Stay in Mirbat Oman?

Mirbat has some cheap beach facing hotels like Beach House, Al Mouj Mirbat, Dream Inn etc. The accommodation will cost only OMR 10 to 12 per night with an excellent beach facing view. Read more details here.
