Salam Air – Oman’s Budget Airline – Now Flying to Salalah from Muscat and Dubai

Traveling to / from Salalah will now cost less as Oman’s Budget Airline Salam Air is starting its operation in 2017. This post will share some useful information on the fare types and the flight dates for Muscat and Dubai to/from Salalah International Airport.

Salam Air Fare Types:

The offered fares are of 3 types – Light, Friendly and Flexi.

1. Light Fare:

Light Fare will include 7 kg hand luggage only. No check-in baggage allowed. This fare will not permit any change in the flight date. No refund will be provided against cancellation or No-show.

2. Friendly Fare:

Friendly Fare will include a 20 kg check-in luggage in addition to the 7 kg hand carry. The ticket can be changed up to 3 hours before the flight time against a fee and the fare difference. Like Light fare, Friendly fare ticket is also non-refundable.

3. Flexi:

The luggage allowed in Flexi fare is same as that in the Friendly Fare. However, this ticket is refundable up till 3 hours before the flight time. Flexi ticket allows modification in the ticket date without any fee up till 3 hours before the flight against payment of fare difference.

Muscat – Salalah Flight:

Salam Air fare will be OMR 13 from Muscat to Salalah. The return flight will cost OMR 26 on Light Fare Ticket. The Friendly Ticket will cost OMR 32 (return) and Flexi will cost OMR 48. The first fight from Muscat to Salalah will be on 30th January 2017.

Dubai – Salalah Flight:

Dubai to Salalah flights will begin from 15th February 2017 via Muscat. The flight will commence from Dubai World Central (DWC) Airport in Dubai, UAE and will arrive in Salalah with transit at Muscat Airport. The Light fare will be USD 100 ( 1 OMR = 2.6 USD) for a return ticket.

Flights to Saudi Arabia and Pakistan

The airline plans to operate flights to destinations such as Jeddah, Karachi, Sialkot and Multan in year 2017.

Update: Salam air is launching flights to Sialkot and Multan from May 16th 2017 with rates as low as OMR 81 return.

  1. What a shame you are not doing non stop flights between Salalah and Dubai.
    Oman air, fly Dubai and Air Arabia have got you beat on that route.
    The Salalah/ Muscat route looks good.
    Will it be assigned seating?

    Yes Flydubai will be a winner in Salalah Dubai flight as Salam Air is currently connecting Dubai via Muscat. But may be in future Salam Air also fly directly to Dubai from Salalah. It’s just the beginning. We are very optimistic with this new launch and Salalah will benefit as the other airlines will drop the fare too. 😃

  3. Do not book on Salam air . their Salalah Muscat fare Friendly is 15 OMR. To change the date they charge 15 OMR.
    No cancellation. Airline is not passenger friendly.
