Taqa is one of the 10 wilayats (provinces) in the Dhofar Governorate of southern Oman, and it’s best known for the historic Taqa Castle, also called Taqah Fort—a beautifully restored coastal fortress that offers a glimpse into the region’s rich past.

But Taqa isn’t just about heritage—it’s also home to a stunning white sandy beach that rivals some of the best tropical beaches in the world. This pristine stretch of coastline features soft white sand, gentle waves, and a peaceful atmosphere, making it perfect for relaxing walks, beach picnics, or simply soaking up the unspoiled beauty of southern Oman.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast or a beach lover, Taqa offers the perfect blend of culture and coastal charm, making it a must-visit destination near Salalah.

At the far end of Taqa Beach, a small cliff adds dramatic beauty to the landscape, making this coastal gem even more photogenic. The contrast between the white sandy shore and the rugged cliffside creates a perfect backdrop for photography enthusiasts and nature lovers.

An off-road trail allows adventurous visitors to drive to the top of the cliff, where you’ll be rewarded with a breathtaking panoramic view of the beach and the Arabian Sea beyond. It’s truly one of the must-do experiences in Taqa, especially around sunrise or sunset.

However, caution is advised—the cliff’s edge drops sharply into the sea below, so take care when exploring the area, especially with children or during windy conditions.

 
For birds lover, this beach provides a great opportunity to have a look at the flocks of birds gathered and flying here.

The creeks at the beach has stunning views. The grass has grown on the sand, which makes it looks even beautiful.

The huts are photogenic and are of unique architectural style that provides a shaded place to sit with family and make barbecue.

A nice playing area for the children is also present at Taqa Beach. The colorful slides and rides will definitely attract children’s attention. By sitting at the nearby benches, parents can keep children within their sights.

If it’s time to pray, go to the nearby elegant mosque (Masjid Jama Shiekhia Salma Bint Ahmed). 

Location of Taqa Beach

Located approximately 35 kilometers on the East of Salalah, Taqa is before the famous Wadi Khareef, Anti Gravity Poin, Tawi Atair Sinkhole and Mirbat.

Although there are many good indicators on the roads to know directions to Taqa, but this beautiful traditional boat roundabout will indicate the start of Taqa (or Taqah).
