Nabi Ayub is a prominent messenger of Allah, the Creator and Sustainer of the universe. The tomb of Nabi Ayub is located on the north-western side of Salalah City in the beautiful Al Qara Mountains. It is one of the prophets’ tombs in the Sultanate of Oman and the most visited one in Salalah.

The mausoleum is an important pilgrimage site for Muslims, Christians, and Jews because of the historical significance of Nabi Ayub. He is mentioned in both the Holy Quran, revealed to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and the Holy Bible, where he is known as Prophet Job.

Who is Prophet Ayub?

Prophet Job lived as a wealthy and healthy man with vast land, many children, and livestock. Allah later tested him by taking away his wealth and health. Despite severe hardship and illness, he remained patient and faithful. As a result, Allah restored his health, returned his wealth, and blessed him with children again.

This account is known as the story of Prophet Ayub (kisah Nabi Ayub AS).

His name is also written as Nabi Ayoub, Prophet Ayub, or Hazrat Ayub A.S.

Prophet Ayub’s Family Tree

A family tree of prophets hangs on the wall inside the tomb. Written in Arabic, it traces the lineage from Prophet Idrees A.S. to Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), including Prophet Ayub. If you would like the HD image of this family tree, please contact us.

During the Khareef season, thick fog often covers the mountains and reduces road visibility. This can make driving difficult, especially for visitors unfamiliar with mountain roads. Therefore, guided tours with experienced drivers offer a safer option.

Visitors can enter the tomb on any day of the year. However, daytime visits are recommended for a better experience.

During the Khareef season, tourist numbers increase across Dhofar, and Prophet Ayub’s Tomb becomes one of the must-see places in Salalah. At this time, temporary stalls sell tea, coffee, snacks, fresh fruits, toys, and mosquito repellents in the parking area.

Outside the Khareef season (learn more about Khareef season), these temporary stalls are usually not present.

The Khareef season lasts from mid-June to early September. During this period, rainfall transforms Salalah into a green oasis. The remaining months include October through May.
