Gold Souk Salalah (Souk al Dhahab) for Gold Shopping

Gold Souk Salalah is a single street, famous for selling gold and silver items. The street is narrow, and has shops on both sides of 127 meters (420 feet) street.

What is Sold in Gold Souk?

In the souk, you can find gold and silver ornaments, antique jewellery, stones, and Omani traditional dagger (khanjar) and walking sticks. The place has more than 20 air conditioned shops.

Why is it called Souk Al Dhahab?

Gold is called Dhahab locally. Since, the market is Gold Souk, its known as Souk Al Dhahab in Arabic. As a matter of fact, this Gold market is selling more silver jewelley than gold. Some silver coins also sold.

Where is Gold Souk?

Gold Souq in Salalah is located besides As Salam Street on the its junction with Al Nahdah Street. From the signal, just head towards the West, and gold shops will be visible.

The Gold Market has an arch-shaped entrance. On the white colored arch, both Arabic and English names of the market are mentioned.

Languages Spoken in Gold Souq Salalah

The shopkeepers are mostly Pakistanis, Indians and Bengalis. So Urdu, and Hindi languages are widely spoken in Gold Souq along with Arabic and English.
